Sophia Loren was born in Rome, Italy as Sofia Villani Scicolene on September 20, 1934. She had an amazing rags to riches story as she was raised in poverty and became Italy’s most famous movie start and recognized around the globe as one of the most beautiful women in the world. She began her film career in 1951 and won the Best Actress Academy Award for the film Two Women in 1961. She also received an Honorary award from the Academy in 1991.
