As a child, he worked in his parents’ restaurant, and this had a major impact on his life path. He then began attending Westminster Catering College at age 16 and gained valuable experience working at several reputable restaurants.

Oliver’s break into TV followed his appearance in a documentary while working at the River Café in London. After that he gained fame after hosting a hit cooking show, The Naked Chef. In recent years, Jamie has had a difficult time. In 2019, his UK restaurants declared bankruptcy. As a result about 1000 employees lost their jobs (source: New York Times ). As Mr. Oliver said to the New York Times:

“I’m devastated that our much-loved UK restaurants have gone into administration,” Mr. Oliver wrote on Twitter. “I am deeply saddened by this outcome and would like to thank all of the people who have put their hearts and souls into this business over the years.”
