In the United States, only 2-5% of the population can truly say they are naturally redhead, while other countries such as Scotland and Ireland have slightly higher percentages of people born with red hair.
Redheads, because of their fiery red hair, are often associated with some bad personality traits like having an extremely bad temper, being quick to act, and just being hot-headed. There is however no scientific evidence that has proven those bad personality traits. It is a proven fact that partners are more attracted to natural redheads because of the rareness of their hair color, it is also proven that a lot of redheads tend to be left-handed.
There are a lot of stereotypes and myths that have been circling for years about redheaded people, but there are also plenty of facts about the redhead history. During the middle ages, certain cultures and people believed that red headed people were witches, vampires of werewolves.
Some cultures and parts of Africa actually still hold the belief that being a redhead is a sin of being a witch. In addition to having to be called a vampire, werewolf or witch in the middle ages, it was also said that a redhead was conceived with ‘unclean s*x’, meaning they believed that conception of a redhead was done while a woman was on her menstrual cycle.
In Europe in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, they had a witch hunt, many women were burned at the stake simply for having red hair. In ancient Rome, redhead slaves were considered to be a rarity and were often more expensive than slaves with any other color hair. Meanwhile in Egypt, redheads were buried alive to be sacrificed to Osiris, a god.
